Acne problems are a common skin condition. It results in spots, pimples or zits on your skin. Commonly it affects adolescents and teenagers. What is it?

It is actually a skin disease resulting from changes in your skin structure. The skin structure comprises hair follicle as well as related sebaceous gland. Generally, it begins during adolescence, decreases in initial twenties and almost goes away by the end of twenties.

Kinds of Acne

It starts with comedo, a large hair follicle containing bacteria and oil. The bacteria present in hair follicle starts flourishing when skin produces more and more oil. Subsequently, the surrounding skin gets inflamed because white blood cells start fighting the above mentioned bacteria. Here are various types of acne and pimples that affect the skin.

Non Inflammatory

They do not cause any inflammation and are of two types

Blackheads

Blackheads also known as open comedo appear after the plug pierces the skin upon enlargement.

Whiteheads

These are whitish in color and appear as whitish bumps on your skin. These closed comedos remain underneath the skin surface.

Inflammatory

These cause inflammation and are of three types

Papules

These are pimples little inflammatory in nature and are characterized by small pink bumps appearing on the skin.

Nodules

Painful and large pimples embedded deeply into the skin. They are formed when comedo spills its contents onto nearby skin and the body produces pus in response to such a situation. They take time to disappear. For example, sometimes they take many weeks to die down and leave heavy scars on body.

Pustule

Small and round shaped lesions are quite painful and are filed with pus. Inflammation takes place because sebum components lead to chemical irritation.

Acne Prevention

Always take care of your skin to the best of your abilities to prevent any skin damage. Make sure that all skin products you use belong to standard product category. Here are some ways to keep a check on acne.

Skin Care And Hygiene

It becomes quite important to maintain cleanliness of your body. However, at the same time beware of over-cleansing. Do not scrub your skin too much, since it may increase natural oil flow leading to heavy oil secretion. This further causes more and more acne.

Relaxation And Sleep

Have a proper and complete sleep because it enhances the immune system and body's ability to control infections. Subsequently, lesions get cleared off in a quick time. Do not take too much stress, since it may increase pimples. Relaxation is best under those circumstances.

Medical Help

Never use over-the-counter products to remove pimples or other such spots. They might or might not suit your skin type. If the situation is serious and continuously persists consult a dermatologist.

Acne problems are common among young individuals. It is very hard to prevent; however you can control it by having in place a healthy lifestyle. Do not panic because pimples and inflammation are quite common symptoms.
